On 13 May 2026, Nyimbo zaKwatu reached an important milestone with the launch of Women's Denderedzwa, a new conversation platform created to bring women together through dialogue, learning and shared experiences.

Hosted at Alliance Française de Harare, the inaugural gathering welcomed more than 100 women creatives and allies from across Zimbabwe's cultural and professional landscape. Artists, musicians, media practitioners, lawyers, academics, entrepreneurs, festival organisers and storytellers came together with one shared purpose: to have meaningful conversations about the issues shaping women in the creative sector.

The afternoon featured two engaging panel discussions.

The first, Women Harnessing AI in the Creative Sector, explored how emerging technologies are creating new opportunities for women while raising important conversations around ethics, innovation and creativity. I had the privilege of joining Anesu-Tendesai Chikumba, Nothando Chiwanga and Vivian Mutasa for this discussion.

The second panel, The Power of Being: Stories, Struggles and Success, brought together Tariro Chaniwa, Becky K, Charlene Chiriseri and Tatenda Mushoriwa, who shared honest reflections on their personal and professional journeys. Their stories resonated deeply with the audience, creating an atmosphere of openness and encouragement.

Guided by moderator Rutendo Denise Musasiwa, every conversation reflected the spirit of Women's Denderedzwa: creating a safe space where women can connect, learn from one another and grow together.

Nyimbo zaKwatu has always celebrated music, culture and creative expression. Women's Denderedzwa builds on that foundation by creating space for conversations that are just as important as the performances themselves.

This is only the beginning. As the community grows, Women's Denderedzwa will continue to bring together diverse voices, meaningful conversations and lasting connections that empower women to shape the future of Zimbabwe's creative industries together.
